Stripping of Humiseal Conformal Coatings Using the WS100 Conformal Coating Wet Removal System
The removal of humiseal conformal coatings such as 1B31, 1R32A2, 1B73 and 1A33 can be completed using the WS100 Conformal coating wet stripping system.
Stripping of unwanted conformal coating from a PCB can be a simple process but depends on what conformal coating is to be removed or stripped, the area of coating to be removed, where the conformal coating is and the type of components on the board.
The WS100 Conformal coating Stripping System has been designed for complete removal & stripping of conformal coating from circuit boards.
The WS100 consists a workstation of four tanks contained behind a safety screen, filled with appropriate stripping materials for the conformal coating material to be removed.
The principle of operation is that the circuit board to be stripped is manually placed by the operator in the first of the tanks for initial ‘rough’ removal and softening of the coating. Each tank has a rinse pipe and solvent pump fitted for gentle circulation and rinsing of the fluid and the operator working behind the safety screen is able to gradually remove the majority of coating, leaving a small amount of residue remaining.

Humiseal Conformal Coating Stripping Materials 1080A and 1063 used in Conformal Coating Video

Humiseal 1080A can be used to remove all acrylic conformal coatings including Humiseal 1B31, 1R32, 1R32A2, 1B73 and 1B18 and Electrolube HPA. Humiseal 1063 can be used to remove polyurethane conformal coatings such as 1A33, 1A68 and Electrolubes SCC3.

For conformal Coatings what is the best wavelength range for optimal stimulation of the fluorescent effect in the conformal coating?
The optical brightener will glow at a wavelength range between 300-400nm. That is what most of the manufacturer of UV lights are specifying in their tubes. However its maximum peaks are at 365nm and 450nm.

We just sprayed PCBs with UV40 through a selective robotic system. However, we were unable to cure immediately with our UV conveyor and had to wait 3 days whilst the boards were wet. However, they didn’t cure? Why does the UV40 secondary cure mechanism state 2-3 hours pot life?We only had them in light for a short period and they were stored in dark drying cabinets most of the time.
Humiseal UV40 is more sensitive to light than moisture and that is why after 3 days it was still not cured. Also, the humidity level in the drying cabinet was probably quite low. The catalyst in the UV40 should not degrade with time.
The Humiseal UV40 TDS states 2 to 3 hours of pot life if for example you have a dip tank full of UV40 exposed completely to light and moisture. When the viscosity of a conformal coating is increasing by double of its initial value then the pot life has been reached. This is the definition of the pot life. It would still be dippable but you will not have the same consistency (film thickness, homogeneity, etc…)
